“buttercup’s tattoos”

BIO:

Kristin Fouquet, a native of New Orleans, was born an anachronism. Having reached adulthood but, not necessarily maturity, she is also a fine art photographer and writer. Her work has been published both in print and online. More about her can be found at Le Salon: http://kristin.fouquet.cc  Fortunately for Kristin, she lives in a city of mystique which provides many intriguing subjects:

Image 1: "Buttercup's Tattoos" was taken in June 2008. The beautiful female tattoos live on the arms of a bartender named Buttercup who works at Napoleon's Itch on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter.

Image 2: "Fire Performer" was shot in September 2008. The subject is a member of Inferneaux, a Fire Performance Troupe based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They were in New Orleans to entertain at an event called "Circus, Circus, Circus" for The Big Top Gallery.

Image 3: "Shateria" was snapped in April 2008. This is an operating washateria in the Mid City area of New Orleans. It's unknown why the owners have not repaired the sign but, it provides a delightful irony to the neighborhood.

Image 4: "Bone Men" was photographed in the French Quarter on Mardi Gras 2005, six months before Hurricane Katrina struck the city. The Bone Men are carrying on an old Carnival tradition. The original Bone Men would visit the cemetery pre-dawn on Mardi Gras morning to commune with the dead. They would ask the dead to enter their bodies as a living vessel. At sunrise, in full costume, they wake their neighborhood by banging on windows and doors.
